Focus on our subsidiaries - international expansion, a strategic lever

Subsidiaries, the key channels for our expansion

With exports representing around 33% of Laïta’s turnover, a significant part of which is from European markets (18%), international expansion is a major pillar in Laïta’s strategy. Currently operating in 90 countries for consumer-packaged goods and 110 across all business segments, the organisation has an extensive network of subsidiaries and offices around the world, which brings it closer to its clients and consumers while maintaining the quality and expertise inherent to its purpose: to offer innovative dairy products which foster enjoyment, sharing and healthy living, and to create sustainable value for milk producers.

A nationwide network supporting our brands

Each subsidiary plays a strategic role in the development of Laïta; they are our local representatives, they have a firm grasp on the dynamics of their markets, they adapt ranges and they work to foster awareness of our brands, especially Paysan Breton. Our international subsidiaries and installations include, in Europe: Eurilait, Marathon Food Ltd, LG Food, Laïta Italy and ECI. We also have offices around the world: French overseas départements and regions (Martinique, Guadeloupe, Réunion, New Caledonia), Asia (Vietnam, South Korea), Africa (Côte d’Ivoire), Middle East (Dubaï).

Laïta Italia

Laïta Italia is based in Melzo and employs nine members of staff. It is wholly owned by Laïta and has been expanding the presence of French dairy products in Italian retail outlets (70%) and the Italian food service industry (30%) since the 2000s. It markets the Paysan Breton, Les Châteaux de France, Crémière de France and Val d’Ancenis brands, and also supplies bespoke solutions and own-label products tailored to the Italian market, where it is a market leader in soft cheeses. With a sales structure organised by region and a network of agents in the South, it is expanding its offering to include more trading (between 8% and 10% in 2025), and maintaining strong customer relations and a permanent presence.

Eurilait

Laïta has been the majority shareholder in Eurilait (70%) since the subsidiary, shared with Eurial (30%), was set up in the 1990s. Eurilait is our biggest subsidiary in terms of staff numbers and turnover. It is based in the UK and specialises in the distribution of dairy products; it was created to increase the presence of French cooperatives in the British market.

Marathon Food ltd

Laïta acquired Marathon Food Ltd, based in North London, as part of its international development and to expand its product offering. Marathon Food was established in 1986 by a Cypriot family and specialises in the distribution of Mediterranean food products. Among other things, Marathon Food is Eurilait’s exclusive supplier of halloumi - a grilling cheese produced in Cyprus. By acquiring Marathon Food, Laïta has secured the supply of halloumi for its subsidiary Eurilait, thereby strengthening its future growth. At the same time it has expanded the range of cheeses available for its international markets.

LG Food

LG Food was founded in 1973. It is based in Lasne, Belgium, and is a well-known sector operator in the Benelux countries where it markets a range of specialised and complementary food products. It was acquired by Laïta and Maîtres Laitiers du Cotentin (MLC) in 2023. It has a workforce of ten, including three sales representatives who maintain a strong presence in the field. Its business know-how and proximity to clients are its key attributes. This acquisition reinforces the synergy between LG Food and its two partners, supporting business growth in the area.

Régilait

Régilait is a French company established in 1947. It produces powdered milk, condensed milk and dairy by-products for distribution via large retail outlets, trade customers and export to over 60 countries. It has a workforce of over 250 and achieved a turnover of around €174 million in 2024. The Régilait subsidiary is jointly owned by Laïta and the Sodiaal cooperative with equal shares.

ECI

The European Colostrum Industry (ECI) is a Belgian company founded in 2011 by Ouest Élevage (Laïta) and the CER Group (Centre de Recherche Belge - Belgian Research Centre). It specialises in collecting, processing and marketing first-milking bovine colostrum. ECI is an industry leader with a production facility in Aye, Belgium, equipped with an MSD drying tower and production lines processing over 400,000 litres of colostrum. Its activities involve the production of frozen and powdered colostrum for various European markets from animal feed to human food. The company has a staff of around a dozen and operates under strict quality certifications that guarantee the safety and reliability of its products.
