An ambitious target for reducing our footprint
Reducing our carbon footprint is one of the priorities of our Passion du Lait® CSR strategy. The objective is to achieve a 40% reduction in our emissions by 2030.
Carbon balance and trajectory
Following the completion of a Bilan Carbone® report, we have set ourselves the target of reducing our scope 1 and scope 2 greenhouse gas emissions (emissions caused directly and indirectly by our activities) by 40% by 2030, compared to 2019 levels. We also plan to construct a carbon trajectory for the period up to 2050 with clear objectives
Concrete action
To this end, we have already started the process with our industrial tool: two projects for installing evaporation units heated by mechanical vapour recompression, a project to install biomass boilers, continuous improvement programmes following energy audits, etc. Other schemes are in place with regard to transportation, including the FRET21 initiative by ADEME, purchases, eco-design and waste
A concerted carbon strategy
We are working with our farmers to assess the possibility of offsetting our greenhouse gas emissions naturally, by planting hedges for carbon sequestration or purchasing carbon quotas on the European market, for example. We are also in consultation with all our stakeholders (farmers, cooperatives, customers, NGOs, scientific and technical institutions, etc.) about establishing a low-carbon strategy, and we are involved in national working groups in this regard.
Since 2021, Laïta has been involved in the FRET21 system.
