Animal well-being at the heart of our strategy
Convinced that animal welfare is inseparable from farmers’ well-being, we are rolling out a One Welfare approach based on shared well-being between animals, women and men, and their territories. Since 2015, we have been supporting farmers in a continuous improvement process through on-farm assessments, training initiatives and the sharing of expertise. Together, we are advancing milk quality, farming conditions and the long-term sustainability of our sector.
Farm practice assessments
To encourage continuous improvement, we offer financial incentives to dairy farmers who have undergone an industry-wide animal welfare assessment and achieved a Boviwell score of ‘progressing,’ ‘superior,’ or ‘excellent.’
We also contribute to improving farmers’ skills with:
- learning materials (videos, fact sheets)
- training sessions on targeted themes
- regular monitoring to identify areas for improvement.
Contributing to industry standards
We participate at national level in developing and updating CNIEL’s animal welfare assessment, the inter-professional dairy sector standard.
Our involvement contributes to improving practices, coordinating approaches and ensuring ever-higher standards for animals.
