Animal well-being at the heart of our strategy

We are fully committed to animal welfare. Since 2015 we have been using diagnostics for our livestock practices and assisting the roll-out of the process across the whole dairy industry.

Diagnostics for livestock practices

In our concern for animal welfare, we encourage livestock farmers to carry out diagnostics on their practices, and aim to have 100% of farms carrying out diagnostics by the end of 2024.

We employ training sessions and videos on specific topics to raise the farmers’ awareness to good industry practices.

Contribution to the inter-professional standards system

We work with the CNIEL (French national Dairy Council) to establish deployment methods for animal welfare diagnostics. The diagnostic has been tested at the members farms of our cooperatives on behalf of the industry.

Progress plan

To reinforce our animal welfare strategy, we have established a working group involving the milk production services of the three Laïta cooperatives. The working group’s remit is to construct a progress plan covering at least two major issues each year.
